A seal belonging to Empress Catherine the Great has sold for £22,900 after being found in an old biscuit tin of bric-a-brac.

The gold seal dates back to the 1780s and would have been used in the Russian royal court as an official seal.
It was commissioned by the Empress along with a second seal of the same design which is kept at The Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, Russia.
