A rare portrait of Lawrence of Arabia which remained in the artist's family for 101 years has sold for £5,300.<br />

TE Lawrence became friends with Eric Kennington after attending an exhibition of his work in November 1920.<br />
<br />
The hero of the Arab Revolt in World War One invited him on a trip to the Middle East and he illustrated Lawrence's seminal work Seven Pillars of Wisdom (1926).
