A rare reward poster issued following the murder of US president Abraham Lincoln has sold for a staggering £134,000. ($166,375)

The 23ins by 12ins broadside was produced six days after he was shot dead at Ford's Theatre in Washington DC on April 14, 1865.

A staggering reward of $100,000 - the equivalent of £4.3million today - was offered for the arrest of wanted John Wilkes Booth.

At the same time, anyone that came to the killers' aid was 'threatened with death'.
The poster, one of less than five known surviving 'first printing' examples, had remained in a Philadelphia family for 150 years. It sparked a bidding war at auctioneers Nate D Sanders, of California, US.
