The family of a Blitz bomb disposal hero who saved a large chunk of London's rail network have sold his bravery medals for £110,000.
Sub-Lieutenant John Duppa-Miller sprung into action when a German mine landed in a viaduct outside London Bridge station on December 8, 1940.
He laid in a pool of water with his face just six inches from the fuse, knowing it could explode at any moment.
Twice the ticking started and he ran for his life, but on both occasions it stopped before detonation.
