A millionaire who paid a record £13.5m for the most expensive property on Sandbanks has been refused permission to build his dream home.
Tom Glanfield has been told the 117-year-old cottage that stands on the largest plot of land on the Poole Harbour peninsula is too important to demolish.
The 45-year-old wants to bulldoze the colonial-style chalet bungalow and replace it with a £7m eco-house of 'exceptional design quality.'
Although the cottage is not a listed building, the local council intends to add it to its Local Heritage List of important properties.
