A rust-covered enamel sign that was used to advertise BP in the 1920s has sold for over £10,000 after being rescued from a skip.
The 40in by 28in piece had spent several years in its owner's shed and looked destined to be tossed out before being salvaged.
As part of a clear out they took the piece to be valued by a specialist along with a number of other items.
It sparked a bidding war, selling for ten times its £1,000 estimate.
