A beloved dinner lady is hanging up her apron after cooking a staggering 3.5million meals during her 35 year career.

Diana Light, 65, has been dishing up 500 meals daily since joining The Arnewood School in New Milton, Hants, in 1986.

The profession runs in her family as she replaced her mother-in-law Joan Light, who did the same job at the secondary school for 27 years.

Between them, they kept the school's children fed for six decades, serving over six million meals.
