How it started vs How it's going

One of Britain's most famous model villages which was founded by a Dunkirk veteran is celebrating its 60th anniversary in style.

Since 1963 the Babbacombe model village in Torquay, Devon, has grown from just a small project into a major tourist attraction.

The idea struck World War Two soldier Tom Dobbins and his wife Ruth and after receiving local support they carefully selected the site to build upon.

Now, 60 years later, around 130,000 people travel from across the country to enjoy walking around the four acre village.
Each model is painstakingly hand made, costing between £5,000 and £25,000 each.
