Hayworth was Hollywood royalty throughout the 40's and 50's...

A silver cigarette case that belonged to screen siren Rita Hayworth and was used by her in an famous advert has been rediscovered.

While advertising for cigarettes was banned outright in 2003, in the 1940s celebrities were often used to glamorise them.

At the time Rita Hayworth was one of the biggest names in showbusiness in the world and she was hired by Chesterfield cigarettes to help promote them.

Advertising posters from the time show the film actress looking into the mirror of a cigarette-come-vanity case.

It is being sold at auctioneers Henry Aldridge and Son of Devizes, Wilts, for £2,500 on September 27.
