A unique, handwritten musical score composed by classical giant Gustav Mahler has been given a record £3.5 million price tag.

The 232 pages comprising the Austrian maestro's iconic Symphony No. 2, known as Resurrection, will become the most expensive musical manuscript ever if its estimate is met.
Written between 1888 and 1894 and containing Mahler's alterations and corrections in the margins, the historic late-romantic piece has emerged after its owner Gilbert Kaplan, a Wall Street millionaire, died aged 74 in January this year.
It is being auctioned on behalf of Kaplan's estate at Sotheby's, London, on November 29.
