Out of this world - The worlds first selfie in orbit, taken by astonaut Buzz Aldrin while floating above the earth 51 years ago, has emerged for sale.
The astronaut posed for the first ever self-portrait in space during the Gemini 12 mission in November 1966.
Aldrin spent five and a half hours outside the spacecraft in three sorties during which he photographed star fields and also found the time to take this ground-breaking selfie.
He lifted the visor of his helmet so his forehead and eyes are visible, with the blue curve of the earth providing a stunning background.
Bloomsbury Auctions - Sept 14th - Est £1200.
