PLEASE USE PICTURES ONLY IN RELATION TO THE AUCTION
Rarely-seen photos of the Queen in her role as a wartime mechanic that could not be sold in her lifetime have fetched £8,400 at auction.
The black and white snaps form part of an archive that also includes the then Princess Elizabeth's War Department provisional driving licence for her job in the A.T.S.
The official document lists her name as 'H.R.H Princess Elizabeth' and states she has blue eyes, is 5ft 4 inches high and has light brown hair.
The archive was kept by the late Major Violet Wellesley, who was Princess Elizabeth's driving instructor in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (A.T.S).
