Pictured: Pinewood Manor has 4,209 sq ft of accommodation with a kitchen/dining room, drawing room, sitting room and music room.
An unusual historic house built by a water board and requisitioned during both world wars is on the market for £1.5m.
The water board built Pinewood Manor as they were planning to flood the Burn Valley and needed somewhere for surveyors to stay.
But they were left red-faced and the plan was scuppered when a geological survey uncovered sand and the reservoir was built elsewhere.
