The largest Chinese 'Festival of Light' seen in Europe is taking shape at the Longleat House in Wiltshire - A small army of over 50 skillled workers have flown in from the remote village of Zigong in central China to create the stunning spectacle.

Among the different scenes are a 20-metre tall Chinese temple, a 70-metre-long dragon, created using more than 10,000 porcelain cups, bowls, plates and dishes, and the mythical qilin – a chimerical hooved creature with the head of a lion – featuring more than 30,000 glass phials filled with coloured liquid.

Massive traditional Chinese masks are also featured and there is also a bamboo forest which is home to a family of life-size pandas, giant elephants, zebras, lions and deer as well as giant lotus flowers floating on the lake.

Filled with thousands of LED lights and handmade by a team of 50 highly-skilled craftsmen from Zigong in China's Sichuan province, the lanterns recreate a magical world of myths and legends.

Set amid the beautiful backdrop of the landscaped grounds and gardens surrounding Longleat House, the lit structures also spill out on to Half Mile Lake to create a stunning and enchanting experience for visitors.

It’s the first time a festival of this size has taken place in the UK and the Chinese team behind the spectacular event believe its size and complexity make it unique throughout Europe.
