A rare sketch by Barnes Wallis showing how his famous bouncing bomb worked has been unearthed.
The genius scientist made the pencil drawing on a ticket during an RAF Halton alumni reunion in south west London in 1946.
At the event, Wallis was asked to explain how his explosive device skimmed across the water by Flight Sergeant Scott. He decided the best way to demonstrate it was through a diagram, so he looked for something to draw on.
F/Sgt Scott handed him his admission ticket and Wallis made a 5ins by 3.5ins sketch which he signed with his initials BW.
The sketch, which is in a frame with a photo of Wallis, is expected to fetch £1,200 when it is sold with Cuttlestones Auctioneers, of Wolverhampton.
