Stunning photographs have revealed a turbulent side to the normally genteel Isle of Wight.
The seemingly benign south coast holiday destination has been catalogued over a stormy year by local photographer Jamie Russell, and his astonishing pictures reveal the dramatic changes in weather that roll across the UK in just 12 months.
Lightning storms, ice, floods, gales and blizzards have all been captured by the intrepid photographer who frequently got up in the middle of the night to capture the climatic chaos.
Looking at these pictures prospective holidaymakers could be forgiven for thinking twice about a gentle staycation on the south coast island.
