Man and boy..
The medal awarded to an 11-year-old boy who took part in the Battle of Trafalgar has sold for over £23,000.
If Lieutenant William Pilch was around today he would still be in primary school. But his family were friends with Admiral Lord Nelson so he was allowed to volunteer with the navy in 1804 aged just 10.
Lt Pilch served as a first class volunteer aboard HMS Bellerophon, a 74-gun ship-of-the-line affectionately known as the 'Billy Ruffian'. On October 21, 1805, it was one of the first ships into action against the enemy French and Spanish fleet at Trafalgar.
