A fascinating letter by Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery expressing how he 'thoroughly enjoyed' facing the Desert Fox in battle has emerged 79 years on.
The British army commander was pitted against the redoubtable Erwin Rommel during the North African desert campaign of 1942.
The hand-written two page letter, dated October 6, 1942, was penned to his brother Harold while he was preparing for the decisive Battle of El Alamein, which turned the tide in World War Two.
