A shop fitter who evaded paying £2.5million of tax and spent the money on his lavish lifestyle has been jailed for six years and three months.

Ian Jordan, 58, falsified invoices and bank statements to get out of paying huge amounts of VAT and corporation tax over a five year period.

He splashed the cash on a £125,000 diamond ring for his wife, five star holidays to Barbados and Dubai, and high performance cars.

Jordan, whose company was called Jordan Decorative Shop Fitting Limited, had a nationwide contract with holiday provider Thomas Cook to build and refurbish their stores. His fraud was uncovered by customs and excise officers in 2017 after they spotted irregularities in invoices and bank statements.
Jordan, of Burley, Hants, was charged with multiple counts of tax evasion in 2021 and was found guilty of cheating the public revenue following a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court.
