A son has paid £10,000 buying back his late father's lost military medals after spending 20 years searching for them around the world.
Andrew Bannister, 51, made it his goal to reunite the family with the decorations his father Samuel was awarded for the notorious Yangtze incident in 1949.
The stoker was serving on board HMS Amethyst when it was held on the Yangtze River for three months during the Chinese Civil War.
