Forget cramped holiday parks, claustrophobic tents and screaming kids - campers craving the ultimate peace and quiet can now find it 500ft up a sheer mountain face. The terrifyingly high mountains of the German Alps are home to the world's most extreme form of camping - and you don't need any climbing experience to enjoy it. Accommodation comes in the form of a 'portaledge' - an incredibly strong frame covered in canvas, secured to the cliff face using strong climbing ropes and shackles. Campers have to scale the mountain to get to their bed for the night - and can only bring with them the bare essentials of a sleeping bag, a rope and a basic dinner. But the ultimate buzz comes at a price however at £750 per night.
