A couple are celebrating a nice little nest egg for their retirement after their one-of-a-kind 22ct gold egg made by Cadbury's sold for £20,000.
The chocolate company commissioned 12 golden eggs made by the Queen's jeweller for a calamitous competition in 1983 that saw thousands of treasure hunters dig up the countryside.
Unbeknownst to the public a 13th larger egg was also produced which Cadbury's awarded to one of its retailers as a thank you for helping with the competition.
This egg has now sold for £20,640, including fees, at Batemans Auctioneers in Stamford, Lincs, and it was bought by one of the original treasure hunters, who has waited 34 years to get their hands on a golden egg.
