A Chinese Imperial vase bought for a few hundred pounds has sold today for over a Million pounds
The 2ft tall blue-glazed silver and gilt vase was bought by the owner's late father, a surgeon, in the late 1980s just because he found it attractive.
Initially, its value was not really known and it was displayed in the kitchen at the family home in the Midlands, but moved to a safer spot in the dining room after an antique expert spotted it during a social visit.
The expert later identified the Qianlong Emperor's six character seal mark on its base and said it was likely displayed in the halls of the Qing palace.
