The Coastguard helicopter hovers over the scene.
A driver had a miraculous escape after his car plunged off a 25ft cliff into jagged rocks at Portland Bill last night with a high tide coming in.
The vehicle came off the road in Portland, Dorset at about 11.15pm last night and ended up on its side near crashing waves and near freezing conditions.
More than 40 police, fire, lifeboat and coastguard crew battled for more than two hours to free the driver, a man in his 50s, during the 'precarious' rescue.
Time was of the essence as high tide was coming in and the car and its occupant could have been swept out to sea.
