Wildlife volunteers have seen a worrying spike in hedgehogs being rescued after the summer heatwave left them without any food.
The number of admissions of the prickly creatures to wildlife hospitals has increased by over 150 per cent from this time last year.
Experts have put it down to a lack of insects and mini-bugs for hedgehogs to eat during the hot weather in June and then again in September.
