The first evidence of birds being contaminated by the Poole Harbour oil leak has now emerged.

A shelduck has been photographed with its white plumage having turned a yellow-brown colour from where it is covered in oil smudges.

The duck was seen at the Lytchett Fields nature reserve in Holes Bay, about four miles away from the location of the leak in the south coast harbour.
