The medals of a hero stretcher-bearer who tended to wounded seamen for 60 straight hours during the Yangtze Incident are being sold by his family for £20,000.<br />

Bandmaster Fred Harwood, of the Royal Marines, transported casualties off the destroyer HMS Consort while being bombarded by the Chinese from the riverbank.<br />
<br />
He moved the stricken personnel on to HMS London and cared for them in the vessel's chapel while it was taking multiple direct hits.
