A poignant archive commemorating Britain's greatest night fighter ace of the Blitz has been discovered.<br />

Flight Lieutenant Richard Playne Stevens, of 151 Squadron, claimed 14 night victories over the Luftwaffe without the benefit of radar in 1941, with his gallantry earning a Distinguished Service Order, Distinguished Flying and Bar.<br />

The collection of 80 documents includes a candid letter singing his praises penned by Britain's highest scoring night fighter ace Wing Commander John 'Cat's Eyes' Cunningham.
