A descendant of Sir Isaac Newton who has bought a sapling from the apple tree said to have inspired the theory of gravity will grow it at his cider farm.<br />

Legend has it that Giles Wood's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great uncle was sat under the tree when he was hit on the head by a falling apple, inspiring his law of gravity.<br />
<br />
Over 350 years later Mr Wood has paid an undisclosed sum for the 3ft sapling that has been propagated from the apple tree at Newton's childhood home in Lincolnshire.<br />

He described it as like securing a 'family heirloom' and will grow it at his farm in Beaminster, Dorset.
