Turkish soldiers in Gallipoli.
Fascinating unseen photos of the disastrous Gallipoli campaign have emerged alongside a battlefield message from a British officer urging his own side to 'stop firing at us'.
The unknown major hurriedly penned a note to Colonel Galbraith, commanding officer of the 7th Highland Light Infantry, after an incident of friendly fire.
The note sheds new light on the chaos of the campaign which has gone down in history as one of Britain's biggest military disasters.
In it, he also pleads for more water, tools and ammunition for his beleaguered men as they fought the Ottomans during the First World War.
