Winston Churchill's prized gold pocket watch which he was gifted by a fellow British prime minister has sold for £95,000.
Herbert Asquith gave him the engraved timepiece in 1905 after he 'crossed the floor' from the Conservatives to the Liberals.
It is engraved with Churchill's early coat of arms and carries the message 'To Winston with gratitude H.H Asquith Xmas 1905'.
A year earlier, Churchill changed sides after falling out with the Conservative leadership over tariff reform and other policies.
The 18-carat gold minute repeating hunter pocket watch had languished in a drawer in a south of England home for decades before sparking a bidding war at Dawsons Auctioneers, of Maidenhead, Berks.
