A First World War ambulance train carriage that carried wounded soldiers to safety from the front line has been given a new lease of life as a quirky fine dining restaurant.
Ross Moore and his wife Claire have added the dining carriage to their restaurant Station Kitchen, which they run from an old railway station in West Bay, Dorset, and it is proving a big hit with foodies travelling from all over the country - and the world - to eat there.
The business started with Claire selling cakes and scones at Bridport Market six years ago, but grew into an award-winning catering company, Sausage and Pear.
The couple set up their quirky restaurant in November 2015 and added the new dining carriage in October last year, which is already proving so popular with their patrons they have turned the old dining room into a lounge and cocktail bar.
