The transformed house from the beach.

A humble holiday home a family bought for just £1,000 almost a century ago on the exclusive enclave of Sandbanks has turned into a luxury property now worth £5 million.

The bungalow was bought new by Dr Edward Andreae in the 1920s when the practice of building on the sandy Dorset peninsula was questioned because of perceived issues over stability.

Over the last seven decades the bolthole has been passed down through the generations of the same family until it fell into a state if disrepair.

In 2011 Dr Andreae's great-grandson, Tim Baldwin, and his father Jonathan, made the drastic decision to demolish the 90 year old building and erect a new one in its place.

They spent 580,000 pounds creating a luxurious beach escape on the 'Millionaires' Row' in Poole Harbour.

The plot is now home to a sprawling seven bedroom, five bathroom property which experts believe to be worth around five million pounds - 5,000 times it's original purchase price.
