A 'one in 30 million' white lobster has been donated to a hatchery after being saved from the cookery pot.
The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow, Cornwall, received the unexpected delivery from a local fish wholesaler on Wednesday morning. (Sep 23)
The wholesaler decided the 18ins calico lobster was 'too rare to sell' and brought it into the centre for conservation.
The unusual crustaceans have a genetic condition which leaves them with little or no pigment in their shells.
They have a short life expectancy as they are less camouflaged than their common blue counterparts and much easier for predators to spot.
