The bravery medals of a Battle of Britain ace who was the 'poster boy' for the RAF in World War Two have today been sold by his family for £200,000.
Wing Commander Peter Parrott was just 19-years-old when he took to the skies during the Battle of France in 1940.
He protected British Expeditionary Force troops being evacuated on Dunkirk's beaches from the swarming Luftwaffe, then excelled as a member of 'The Few' in the Battle of Britain, shooting down two enemy aircraft over the Isle of Wight on one day.
The dashing airman, who flew Hurricanes and Spitfires, appeared in his flying suit on an RAF recruitment poster asking young men to 'volunteer now'.
