Anglers are threatening to withhold millions of pounds in rod licence fees in protest at the 'utterly appalling' state of British rivers.
The angling community generates up to £40m a year income for the Environment Agency by paying for the right to fish on the country's rivers and lakes.
But there is a tidal wave of anger among them over the 'disgusting and horrific' levels of chemicals and effluent that has been allowed to be discharged into Britain's precious waterways.
