PICTURED: The Chateau's stone spiral staircase.
A majestic medieval chateau with its own fortifications and coat of arms has emerged on the market for £3.3million. (3.9m euros)
Nestled in green countryside in south west France, Chateau de Vouzan comes with 23 hectares of land which can be looked out upon from its turreted watchtowers.
It is approached by a sweeping drive through a large gate showing the coat of arms with three horses in fighting pose.
The 15th century chateau, in Angouleme, Charente, which is being sold by estate agent Leggett Prestige, has been granted 'protected historic monument' status by the French government.
It has its own pigeon hut (dovecote), with various outbuildings including a caretaker's cottage and a large cottage with a barn attached. There is also a 12th century chapel in the grounds.
