The Hallway.
When a couple paid out £500,000 for a tumbledown cottage that was fit for nothing but demolition, a few eyebrows were raised among their friends.
But Alex Michaelis and Susanna Bell's gamble to buy the cliff-top property that had no central heating or electricity has paid off after they turned it into a stunning holiday home now worth three times the purchase price.
Architect Alex made the most of the stunning views enjoyed from the plot and has ensured all main rooms of the new house, including the four bedrooms and five bathrooms, face the sea.
They now rent out the modern seaside home overlooking Praa Sands, near Penzance, Cornwall for as much as £5,000 a week.
