A historically-important gold pendant that was found by a metal detectorist after spending 1,400 years in the ground has been unveiled at a museum.

The one-of-a-kind 24 carat gold jewel dates back to 7th century Anglo Saxon Britain when it could have been worn by a Wessex king or abbot as a status symbol.
The triangular pendant, which has a gold frame around a semi-transparent piece of rock crystal, was unearthed by Charles Bullock in a field near Milton Abbas, Dorset, in 2019.
In 2022, Dorset Museum was offered the chance to purchase the pendant for £10,000 and started fundraising.
