A metal detectorist is today celebrating after a 2,000 year old horse brooch he dug up sold for over £71,000 - almost nine times the estimate.
Ray Pusey, 64, found the Celtic Chieftain's chariot brooch about 10ins below the surface at an undisclosed location in his home county of Buckinghamshire.
It was tipped to fetch £8,000 but sparked a bidding war between four phone bidders which drove up the price.
The van driver, who has been detecting for 30 years, will split the proceeds of the sale 50/50 with the landowner.
