Wildlife volunteers have seen a worrying spike in hedgehogs being rescued after the summer heatwave left them without any food.<br />

The number of admissions of the prickly creatures to wildlife hospitals has increased by over 150 per cent from this time last year.<br />
<br />
Experts have put it down to a lack of insects and mini-bugs for hedgehogs to eat during the hot weather in June and then again in September.
