Instead of going ape for a bunch of bananas this gorilla went in search for a rather unusual treat - acorns.

Alf, a western lowland gorilla, was collecting the small nuts from the grass surrounding a huge tree before he realised they had all fallen from the branches above his head.

The brave ape started to make his way up the 40ft tall oak before clinging on to a strong branch about 10ft away from the highest point grabbing handfuls of the autumnal nuts before slowly venturing back down the huge tree in his enclosure at Longleat Safari Park in Warminster, Wiltshire.
