The little changed Somerset village of Chiselborough whose residents have pieced together their history in photographs.

A rural village's community has painstakingly put together its social history over the last 40 years, which is now going on display.

Tony and June Perry first started collecting images of Chiselborough, in south Somerset, 40 years ago for the project which celebrates the village's people, traditions and buildings.

Dozens of villagers have helped the couple compile 600 photos which are finally going to be shown in a new exhibition.

The images, which date back to the 1860s, highlight many notable events in Chiselborough's history including the fire of 1890 which saw the pub burn down.

Other photos show the silver jubilee party of 1935, a school fancy dress day in 1954 and the renovation of the village's 12th century church in 1971.

Situated on the River Parrett, Chiselborough is five miles west of Yeovil and has a population of just 275 people.
