The second osprey chick to have ever hatched in southern England in 200 years came out of its shell just minutes after its nest featured live on BBC's Springwatch.

One of the last segments of the first episode of last night's show focussed on three eggs laid by a female osprey bird that is part of a pioneering breeding project.
Millions of people watched on tenterhooks as presenter Michaela Strachan willed the eggs to hatch while they were live on air.
