Sergeant Major Mick Burton during a dive

A diver who helped raise the Mary Rose has sold the watch he wore during the mission for almost £34,000 to fund his dream diving trip.

Sergeant Major Mick Burton was one of the Royal Engineers who installed the yellow cradle used to lift the Tudor ship from the Solent in 1982.

Throughout the mission he used his Omega Seamaster 300 diver's watch to time the hours spent working in horrendous conditions on the pitch-black seabed.
