2000 year old glass saved from the Charity shop.
Part of the 2000 year old collection of Roman glass.
A Roman glass collection amassed by a Second World War spy that was almost given away to a charity shop could fetch its owners £6,000 at auction.
The 2,000-year-old glassware, which the family assumed had been lost over the years, was discovered in a box at the back of a garage after the owner's death.
It had belonged to his father, Leslie D’Oyly Harmer, who worked for the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during the Second World War.
The SOE was a British organisation formed to conduct espionage, sabotage and reconnaissance in occupied Europe against the Axis powers and to aid local resistance movements.
