The statue is now prostrate and wrapped in sandbags to protect it from the Autumn storms.

A cast iron sculpture by Antony Gormley lies ignominiously on its side on a rocky beach while engineers struggle to re-erect it almost two weeks after it was blown over in a storm.

The life-size statue was one of five works installed at beauty spots around the country earlier this year to mark the 50th anniversary of the Landmark Trust.
It was supposed to remain in place at Kimmeridge, Dorset, until next May but the statue which, including its stone base, weighs more than a tonne was toppled over by strong winds and heavy seas overnight on September 14-15.
