Fit for a king...

A 16th century castle with links to royalty and panoramic views from its battlements is on the market for offers over £3.5m.

Myres Castle was built in about 1530 by John Scrymgeour, who oversaw the refurbishment of both Holyrood and Falkland Palace and has been linked with the latter, which was a favourite retreat of Mary Queen of Scots, for hundreds of years.

The oldest tree at the property, a Spanish chestnut, is believed to have been planted by Mary Queen of Scots on one of her many hunting trips.

In more recent years it has been used as a stunning wedding venue and has 45 acres of land including an impressive 'Vatican' style walled garden.
