Proud - Former Verger and WW2 6th Airborne soldier Frank Hall(91)

A never-seen-before scrapbook documenting the private burial of Sir Winston Churchill has been unearthed after 50 years from the verger who helped oversee the historic service.

Frank Hall, 91, amassed the incredible archive including more than a dozen black and white photographs of the historic event that took place in the tiny Oxfordshire village of Bladon.

The previously-unseen images show the preparations for the burial, with one of Frank mowing the grass next to the open grave and a group of servicemen lowering a coffin into it in a rehearsal.

The images form part of a new exhibition at Blenheim detailing the great man's life.
