A rare Tiger Moth bi-plane that was used to track the German Blitskrieg towards Dunkirk is coming up for sale in a unique auction.
The wartime aircraft was a 'spotter' and the crew let themselves be repeatedly shot at in order to plot how fast the enemy was moving.
Badly damaged, the plane took off from Dunkirk before the coastal town fell and limped across the English Channel only to come under friendly-fire by trigger-happy shore batteries.
Tiger Moth N6965 went on to be used by the RAF as a training aircraft until 1955 when it was put into storage for 30 years following a crash landing at Southend, Essex.
